No one is changing their vote.
Indeed. Someone has to climb down. One possibility is a ruling that Bibi cannot form a government while under indictment. Another alternative is for Bibi to ditch his chareidi and messianic allies and form a secular government with Gantz. Of course, for this to happen Gantz would have to ditch his “Bibi must quit” position. Another option would be for Liberman to join a right wing/religious government. Or we can continue to have these useless elections.
Another possibility is for voters to stop voting for the idiot that is causing this phenomenon (the one whose name starts with L, ends with n and has “ieberma” in the middle).
Israel ran on the trichotomy of left/right/Arabs for all its history. And in every election except the last one, a government was formed on the first try.
Even from as far away as Los Angeles I can see wheels spinning in the mud. This isn’t going to change anything. The cult of personality around BibI fascinates me. It’s obvious that Likud wins easily if they just move on from Bibi, why are they married to him?
You answered the your own question. You Americans from afar can’t see what Netanyahu has done for this country. After Oslo the country fell apart. Israel was at a low, seemingly surrendering to terrorists who’s only aim was to destroy us. Netanyahu was fighting it at every step and didn’t stop til he took over the government. But not fanatically. He did it with much help from good advisers who pushed to slowly turn the situation from a Israeli defeat to a victory and the upper hand against the terror. I live here and we thank G-d almost never hear of what was 15-20 years ago. The daily bus bombings, shootings, and stabbings.
Although not personally religious, he is admired by the religious for not only minimization the anti-religious attitude of the government, but actually helping religious interest.
Economically, the country is doing great. People are paying less taxes, foreign investments and exports are up, and everyone is generally happy with their income.
Politically Netanyahu has carefully built up connections with many world leaders, most notably Trump and Putin.
With all these things in mind, it’s hard to toss him out because “it’s someone else’s turn” or because you simply don’t like his style. It is worth fighting to keep him in and i hope he manages to hold through and make it work for all Israel.
Thank you for the answer. It is good to hear the attitudes of those on the ground. Of course, here in America, we think of Bibi as Donald Trump’s ally and therefore our enemy. It is all a matter of perspective. Good luck getting a government – we have our own problems with that sort of thing over here.
