Is it possible in the Israeli political system to have Gabi Ashkenazi running as the unofficial leader of the centre-left faction, so that after the election, the law could be amended and he could be appointed PM even without having his name on any party’s list?
Ashkenazi can’t be a faction leader under law. They can always pretend he is, but that would be a Putin-Medvayev situation.
Congratulations to President Obama and his team on winning a second term in office. BTW, I think Bibi is a shoo in for the Jan. 21st 2013 Israeli election as long as he makes the right moves in the coming hours, days and weeks. The foreign policy front is very important…
