It would be impossible for Netanyahu to form a stable governement. Why dont large parties form bigger parties by merging with other parties ?
There are a lot of reasons why parties don’t merge. One of those reasons is that when divided they might actually be able to win more support. Another reason is that it becomes difficult to decide who gets what number on the list.
The Labor Party had 21 seats when Amir Peretz merged his Am Achad Party of three seats with them. Less than a year later Peretz defeated Shimon Peretz and became Labor Chairman. This is just one example of a small ideolgoical party taking over a bigger party after a merger.
